I have lived in the Gorleston area since 1968 and worked in local high schools in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston until 2001. At this time I took early retirement to become Chair of the Great Yarmouth Primary Care Trust and following this, the Great Yarmouth and Waveney PCT on which I served as Chair until 2008. I have been actively involved in many local sports ranging from basketball, swimming to hockey. When I was Chair of the Social Forum, I began the Great Yarmouth Sports Partnership. I still play an active role with Yarmouth Hockey Club, coaching and umpiring throughout the winter months. I also follow Norwich City Football Club and their result is the first I look for wherever I am in the world! I have a keen interest in working with community groups and have been fortunate to be Ward councillor working in the Claydon Ward with Neighbourhood Boards, Residents and Tenants Groups and the Claydon Pavilion Association. My work as Ward councillor has been to facilitate grants and produce real results for the local community. Evidence of this is on Southtown Common where the skateboard park, the football area and the fitness trail have been some of my major projects with the local community members and groups.
