1 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
To receive any apologies for absence.

The minutes of the meeting held on 12 March 2014 were confirmed.

Matters Arising from the above minutes:

(a)    It was reported that the ECB Course invoice had been received on 4 April 2014 at a total cost of £450 for 9 participants.

(b)    It was reported that Martin Witheridge had been awarded £100 towards the Level 2, Cricket Coaching Course.

3 TREASURER'S REPORT
To receive an update.

It was reported that banking charges had been incurred following the clearance of a grant cheque which had been issued to Kingfisher Boxing Club. The Treasurer apologised for this unfortunate occurrence.

Councillor Sutton requested that the monies ringfenced for coaching grants and equipment be separated and reported individually in the accounts.

It was reported that Fleggburgh United FC who had received grant funding in 2012 to purchase a changing room/storage were winding up. The storage unit had been sold for £350 and the money had been returned to the Sports Council.

The balance in the General Account was £2226.29 and the Deposit Account was £2576.05.

4 GRANT APPLICATIONS

(i)    It was reported that Martyn Clarke, whose application had been deferred at the last meeting, had provided the further information required. The information had been verified and the grant would be made payable to the Governing Body.

RESOLVED:
That a £100 grant be agreed.

(ii)    It was reported that Nigel Hedley had applied for two grant awards, for American Football Coaching and a First Aid Course.
The grants were approved but would be need to be paid via a third party Governing Body.

RESOLVED:
That a £100 grant be agreed ( £55 for coaching & £45 for first aid)

(iii)    It was reported that Lorrain Dawson, a member of Great Yarmouth Road Runners, had applied for a grant to undertake Running Fitness coaching organised by England Athletics.

RESOLVED:
That a £100 grant be agreed.

(iv)    It was reported that James Borg had applied for a grant for Level 2, Basketball in the Community coaching. The grant to be made payable to a third party Governing Body.

RESOLVED:
That a £100 grant be agreed.

5 ANY OTHER BUSINESS
To consider any other business as may be determined by the Chairman of the meeting as being of sufficient urgency to warrant consideration.

(a)    Sports Awards.

Councillor Sutton reported that he had met with John White to discuss the Sports Awards. The Norfolk Sports Awards would take place in November and it was therefore proposed that our event would take place at the end of September, subject to the Mayor's diary. The Judging Panel would consist of 5 panelists, ideally independant from the Sports Council. It was proposed that the Mayor and Alex Bond (Active Norfolk) be elected to the this panel.

It was reported that 9 categories would be recognised:

Community Club of the Year
School of the Year
Community Coach of the Year
Young Sports Personality (under 18 girl)
Young Sports Personality (under 18 boy)
Sporting Business of the Year
Sports Personality of the Year (Woman)
Sports personality of the Year (Man)
Long Service to Sport Award.

One-off awards would be presented which could be individually sponsored.

The nomination forms would need to be designed and be available online on the GYBC and Active Norfolk websites. Publicity for the event would also need to be arranged.

RESOLVED:
That the Culture,Sport & Leisure Manager contact the Civic Secretary to secure the date, venue, attendance of Mayor and to begin planning the Sports Awards event in the Assembly Room at the Town Hall.
