How to guide for attending a virtual meeting of the Licensing Committee

Firstly, visit this link in a modern web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox etc) or device.

If you are using a PC or Laptop:

  1. The following page will be shown:

 

1.       Select ‘Watch on the web instead’, then select ‘join anonymously’. Until the meeting starts the message ‘The Live event has not started yet’ will be shown. The meeting will automatically begin to stream when the meeting commences.

If you are using a Smartphone / Tablet:

1.       If you are visiting the link from an Apple or Android smartphone or tablet, you will need to download the Microsoft Teams application from the relevant app store for your device: Google Play Store Microsoft Teams or Apple App Store Microsoft Teams You will need to download and install this application, but you will not need to sign up for an account to view the live stream.

 

2.       Once you have installed the application, select the link to join the meeting, which will open Microsoft Teams, then select ‘join as guest’. Until the meeting starts the message ‘The Live event has not started yet’ will be shown. The meeting will automatically begin to stream when the meeting commences.

2 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

 

You have a Disclosable Pecuniary Interest in a matter to be discussed if it relates to something on your Register of Interests form. You must declare the interest and leave the room while the matter is dealt with.

You have a Personal Interest in a matter to be discussed if it affects
•    your well being or financial position
•    that of your family or close friends
•    that of a club or society in which you have a management role
•    that of another public body of which you are a member to a greater extent than others in your ward.
You must declare a personal interest but can speak and vote on the matter.

Whenever you declare an interest you must say why the interest arises, so that it can be included in the minutes.

Councillor B Walker declared a personal interest in item 6, and as he had known the applicant for many years, he would leave the meeting and not take part in the determination or vote on the application.

4 EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC

 

In the event of the Committee wishing to exclude the public from the meeting, the following resolution will be moved:-

"That under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 12(A) of the said Act."

APPLICATION FOR A FIRST CLASS HACKNEY CARRIAGE DRIVER'S LICENCE

The Committee received and considered the report from the Licensing and Elections Manager.

 

The Committee was asked to consider an application for a First Class Hackney Carriage Driver's Licence in view of the applicant's previous convictions.

 

RESOLVED:-

 

That the Committee grant the application.

The Committee received and considered the report from the Licensing & Elections Manager.

 

The Committee was asked to consider the licence of a First Class Hackney Carriage Driver who had been disqualified from driving for six months.

 

RESOLVED:-
