Review of TPO officer report detailing need to review existing TPO (No.1 of 1965) due to age of designation and creation of new TPO (No.15 of 2025) to identify the location and amenity value of a number of specific trees within the existing area-wide TPO.

 

The officer report, following assessment and recommendations of the Arboricultural Officer, confirms that specific identified trees under the existing TPO (No.1 of 1965) has the public amenity value that warrant their protection. However, as these trees were listed under a previous area-wide order, there is some uncertainty under the existing TPO as to which trees the order applies too. By varying the existing TPO (No.1 of 1965) to remove their A2 designation, and creation of new TPO (No.15 of 2025) which specifies the individual trees, the new designation would reduce uncertainty regarding which trees benefit from protection under Section 198 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
