DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

COUNCIL EVENTS FOR 2014/15 (LAURA GOODMAN TO REPORT)

(a) Festival of Remembrance 8th November 2014
Positive feedback had been received about the event and it was decided that it would be held as an annual event. Some changes regarding standard bearers would be discussed at the planning stage.
RESOLVED:
To hold this event again on 7th November 2015.
(b) Remembrance Day 9th November 2014
A meeting would follow this meeting as a de-brief on what happened on the day.
(c) Zepplin Raid 19th January 2015
Laura reported that she had met Canon Chris Terry and arranged the following:-
11.00 am Hold a small ceremony at the grave of Sammuel Smith at Kitchener Rad where the Mayor would lay a wreath.
11.30 am A 30 minute service would be held at St Peter Plain.
12.00 Refreshments would be served at St Georges Theatre.
A press article would be prepared and relatives would be asked to attend, a letter would be placed in the Mercury and the Borough News.

It was reported that the exhibition was held and that in may be repeated again at the end of the commemoration in 2018. Great Yarmouth High School were interested in placing a blue plaque up in Beaconsfield Road for Henry Cator.
(b) Norfolk Museums to report
on the 7th November 2014 an Opening Ceremony was held to open their schools project exhibition at St Georges. The Exhibition would be in the Attrium next week along with the tank, this would then go to Gorleston Library and then into the local schools.

Irene Williamson reported that she had been invited to Peterhouse School to read the "Please wear a Poppy" poem which was recorded and would be placed onto the English Heritage Website. They had obtained a grant from English Heritage to build a memorial garden and progress on this would be provided at future meetings.
