a)    Patronage

It was suggested that Henry Cator the High Steward Designate may have some suggestions on suitable people and it was therfore agreed that he would be invited to the next AGM meeting.

The Chairman reported that a letter had been received from Brandon Lewis  stating that a representation would be made to the Secretary of State.

c)    Change of Constitution

Michael Boon asked the commitee if they were happy with the amended wording which would then need to be considered at the AGM for them to agree the changes.  


d)    Railings

It was reported that the Deputy Mayor had arranged for the railings to be painted and a letter of thanks would be sent to Great Yarmouth Borough Council.  It was now the responsibility of the church to paint the porch railings.

e)    Places and Faces

Albert Jones offered to speak to Places and Faces about attending the "blessing of the nets" event which could then be featured in the magazine.  

f)    Completion of the Tower Works

It was reported that the Belfry needed to be cleaned of Pigeon feaces before the ringing of the bells ceremony could take place. 


g)    Peregrine Falcon 

The chairman reported that he had received permission to have a Peregrine Falcon on the roof of the church.  

h)    Henry Cator

The Chairman reported that he had written to Henry Cator the High Steward designate to ask him if he would like to be the president of the Great Yarmouth Minuster Preservation Trust and he had written back to say that he would be delighted to take up this role and would be meeting with the Chairman next week to discuss this further.

i)    Lady Trustees

The Chairman reported that in his Mercury article he had asked if any ladies would be interested in being a trustee but he had not received any interest. 


j)    Wymondham Abbey

The Chairman reported that he would be visiting Wymondham Abbey to see how they carried out their work and spent their funding.

It was suggested that the Places and Faces magazine be involved in the restarting of the bell ringing service.

The Chairman reported that the Deputy Mayor had spoken to the Council and they were now receiving a better rate.

It was agreed that Mike and Brenda Taylor would run the bar and Jim Carter would manage the door for the Gorleston Community Choir Concert on Saturday 28 September 2013.

The Deputy Mayor would be attending the Blessing of the Nets and Councillor Smith and Jim Carter agreed to read the two lessons.

The Keith Skues event had been postponed. 

The Chairman asked if any Trustee's would like to have a tree at the Christmas tree festival.  The Mayor would be asked to do a tree. 

Hugh Sturzaker reported on the JPH Bi-Centenary event stating that the dinner being held at the Town Hall would be a five course dinner for £45.  A civic service would be held on the Sunday and an exhibition would be held in the Church.  A funding bid had been submitted for £22,500.  A blue plaque would be placed on the house at 100 South Quay.    

The Chairman reported that an exhibition would be displayed in the church for World War One Centenary and a bid for funding may be submitted to the Big Lottery Fund who had specified that the exhibition would need to run for three months from 1 August 2014.

The Trustees were asked to help with the Heritage Open Days and keeping the chuch open and Albert Jones and Bob Price agreed to be at the Church Friday afternoon from 1pm until 4pm.

It was reported that the Great Yarmouth Minster Friends have now stopped.  It was hoped that a wedding fair couild be held next year in March 2014.
