The Chairman asked for clarification on the dinner being held on 11 October 2014 which would be WW1 themed. It was reported that this would now be held in January 2015 as there were several Trafalgar day dinners held around october time.

COUNCIL EVENTS FOR 2014 (LAURA GOODMAN TO REPORT)

(a) Civic Service 3rd August 2014
It was reported that this service went well but there was a poor attendance by youth personnel and unfirmed personnel from the forces.
(b) Candlelit vigil 4th August 2014
It was reported that this was attended by over 60 people.
(c) Festival of Remembrance 8th November 2014
It was reported that local school children would be asked to cut poppies up and each school that does this would be offered 3 tickets to attend the service. Tickets would be sold at £10 each. Concern was expressed that the band did not attend the Civic Service or Maritime Festival.
Next year school children would be asked to grow their own produce like the land girls.

THE GREAT WAR - A TIME LINE
To discuss the timeline.

The Events Manager spoke of the Zepplin raids and suggested that a service be held on 19 January 2015 at 11.00 am at St Peters Plain and that a road closure would be applied for and a press release would be sent out.

a) Great Yarmouth Minster Preservation Trust
It was reported that the exhibition currently sites in the aisle of the church and is on till the 30th September 2014.
b) Norfolk Museums
It was reported that the touring exhibition would be from 7-19 December 2014. The schools have come up with some interesting things that happened to local people. The small tank is now being made and it will be 6ft x 4ft in size. The venues for the exhibition would be the Town Hall, Great Yarmouth Library, St Georges Theatre and local schools.

There was nothing to report on this item.

Paul Davies reported that in December the 4th Annual Christmas Tree Festival would be taking place and asked if anyone would like to enter a World War 1 themed tree.
