Apologies for absence were received from Ms V Petit.

 

 

2 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

Councillor Waters-Bunn declared a personal interest with regard to the item relating to the Beaconsfield in her capacity as Chairman of PoNY. 

 

Mrs J Langley declared a personal interest with regard to the item relating to the Beaconsfield in her capacity as Secretary of PoNY.

The Minutes of the meeting held were confirmed subject to the addition of the following in those present :-

 

County Councillor Castle, Mrs J Langley (Great Yarmouth Joint Community Resilience), Mrs J Fitzgerald (PoNY), Mr J Langley (North Yarmouth Joint Community Resilience)  

 

 

4 PUBLIC QUESTION TIME

5 ROMAN PLACE

 

To be discussed at the meeting.

The Member Services Officer advised the Committee that she had contacted both NCC Highways and the Head of Customer Services at the Borough Council with regard to issues that had been raised and response emails were summarised.

 

County Councillor Castle advised the Committee that illustrations had been produced to look at alterations to the Roman Place car park which would have seen the removal of the 25 hour parking, however it was noted that the plans were 10 years old and at the time had not been taken forward for the scheme to be delivered.

 

Members discussed the need for a scheme to be drawn up for this site and agreed that this item remain on the agenda for the Committee.

 

Reference was made to the number of street lights that were not in use at this site and the need for this matter to be addressed.

 

Councillor Smith-Clare suggested that he contact and arrange a meeting with Paul Sellick, Highways Engineer, NCC to raise the issues of the Committee.

 

 

6 ABELLIO GREATER ANGLIA

Members were advised that a representative from Abellio Greater Anglia had been unable to attend the meeting. It was reported that a presentation had been given to the Council's Economic Development Committee by Abellio and that this had been very informative.

 

County Councillor Castle expressed his disappointment that a representative from the service had been unable to attend, he stated that in his opinion Great Yarmouth had a real opportunity to provide new services such as a direct line to Stansted Airport, he therefore proposed that the Area Committee expresses its support for new longer-distance rail services to the town, and urges both the Borough and County Councils to work together to develop the case for securing Great YArmouth as the preferred terminus for a Stansted Airport train service as part of the 2025 rail franchise process.

 

RESOLVED :

 

That the Area Committee expresses its support for new longer-distance rail services to the town, and urges both the Borough and County Councils to work together to develop the case for securing Great Yarmouth as the preferred terminus for a Stansted Airport train service as part of the 2025 rail franchise process and that this support be taken forward to the Economic Development Committee for consideration.

 

 

7 BEACONSFIELD RECREATION GROUND

 

To be discussed at the meeting.

The Committee were advised that no discussions had been been held with regard to the Beaconsfield Recreation Grounds and that there were no plans for this area.

 

Mrs Langley expressed her relief that there had been no plans to change the use of this area and commented that PoNY had been concerned that the public use of this site was going to removed. Councillor Waters-Bunn advised that planning permission had now been granted for an extension at the Charter Academy and raised concern as to the well-being of the children in light of lack of space to partake in exercising and physical education and she advised that PoNY would monitor this situation.

Parking issues in Cobholm

 

Councillor Waters-Bunn raised some concern with regard to the residents car park area situated off High Mill Road and sort clarity as to the ownership of the car park and who can park there.

 

Councillor Cordiner - Achenbach also raised concern with regard to the parking in this area and made reference to a site whereby double yellow lines had been painted by accident.

 

It was agreed that these concerns be raised with the Head of Customer Services and that any correspondence be emailed to Members of the Committee.
