1 APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN

 

To appoint a Chairman for the municipal Year 2018/19.

The Senior Member Services Officer opened the meeting and asked for nominations for the position of Chair.

 

Councillor Jeal was duly proposed and seconded.

 

RESOLVED :

 

That Councillor Jeal be elected as Chair of the Yarmouth Area Committee for the 2018/19 Municipal Year. 

 

 

2 APPOINTMENT OF VICE CHAIRMAN AND CO-OPTED MEMBERS

 

To appoint a Vice - Chairman and elect the Co-opted Members on to the Yarmouth Area Committee for the Municipal Year 2018/19.

Nominations were invited for the position of Vice-Chair.

 

Councillor Walch was duly proposed and seconded.

 

The following Co-opted Members, Mr John Langley, Mrs Jane Langley, Mrs Josie Fitzgerald, Mrs Valerie Petit and Mr Roger Silvers were reaffirmed en bloc as co-opted Members to the Committee for the 2018/19 Municipal Year.

 

RESOLVED :

 

(1) That Councillor Walch be elected as Vice-Chair of the Yarmouth Area Committee for the 2017/18 Municipal Year.

 

(2) That Mr John Langley, Mrs Jane Langley, Mrs Josie Fitzgerald, Mrs Valerie Petit and Mr Roger Silvers be reaffirmed en bloc as co-opted Members to the Committee for the 2018/19 Municipal Year.

Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Martins, County Councillor Castle and Mr Roger Silvers.

It was noted that in relation to Item 7, Mr Langley was PoNY Member not representative.

Wintergardens 

 

The Chairman reported that the BID for the Wintergardens project had been unsuccessful in light of not having an end user, he advised that an end user was now being sought and that a further update would be provided at a later date.

 

Beaconsfield

 

The Member Services Officer reported that no response to date had been received from the Chair of the Inspiration Trust, Councillor Smith-Clare reported that he had also attempted to contact the Chair of the Trust and had also to date received no response. Highways had also been contacted and confirmed that they had received no reports in relation to a change in road usage.

 

Roadworks at Fuller Hill, Roundabout

 

Some concern was raised in relation to the work that had been undertaken at the Fullers Hill Roundabout, as it was felt the roundabout could be deemed confusing by drivers, although it was pointed out that a recent sign had been erected which now showed which lane drivers needed to be in. The Chairman reported that concerns raised would be raised at the meeting of the Great Yarmouth Transport and Infrastructure Steering Group.

 

Cobholm

 

Councillor Waters-Bunn reiterated her concerns that had been raised at the previous Committee meeting in relation to traffic travelling through Cobholm, she also commented that following Tops Tiles taken control of the car park located near to the store, there had been a significant rise in issues with parking in and around Cobholm, following a discussion it was agreed that Councillor Waters-Bunn send an email to the Member Services Officer stating her concerns and that this be forwarded on to the Transport and Infrastructure Team at Norfolk County Council.

Roman Place 

Councillor Robinson- Payne requested that the an item be brought to the next meeting of the Area Committee to discuss the issues of fly tipping within the area. It was suggested that the local community Police Officer be invited to attend the next meeting.

 

SNAP Meeting 

Councillor Waters-Bunn advised that the next SNAP meeting was due to be held on the 12th July at 7pm.

 

Northgate Street - Flood Forum 

Mrs Langley reported that a scheme had commenced on Northgate Street, Great Yarmouth where residents were being given the opportunity to claim free water butts and raised beds from the National Flood Forum, leaflets were distributed to the meeting.

 

Lorne Green Visit 

Councillor Smith-Clare reported that the Police and Crime Commissioner would be attending Great Yarmouth for a meeting, he advised that he would circulate details of the meeting to Members.

 

Coach Station Car Park 

Councillor Smith-Clare reported that he had received complaints from residents in relation to the amount of noise and pollution at the Beach Coach Station, the Chairman advised that these concerns had been raised at a previous meeting although issues still remained.

 

Yarmouth North Public Conveniences 

Councillor Waters-Bunn advised that proposals had been discussed at the recent meeting of the Environment Committee to remodel the facilities, although some concern had been raised in relation to the proposals, therefore these were to be re-looked at and be brought back to a later meeting of the Environment Committee.

 

General Waste Bins 

The Chairman pointed out the need for more refuse collections during the summer period and it was agreed that he raise concerns with the Environmental Health Team and Environment Committee.
