The officer report, following assessment and recommendations of the Arboricultural Officer confirms that the tree would have the public amenity value which warrants its protection under Section 198 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, and would reduce the uncertainty regarding those trees within the wider grouping that are currently unprotected.
Through the officer report’s assessment, the alternative option not to protect the trees has been discounted given their public amenity value, and potential uncertainty on which trees may not benefit from protection within the wider group.
