Christmas Tree Festival - a total profit of £1,952.  Positive comments had been received about the Christmas tree festival being kept at the Civic Carol Serivce.  A letter would be sent to Peter Jay to thank him for the prize he had donated to the hunt the snowman competition.

The Barclays Current account balance is £28,200.98 
The 10 day Notice Account balance is £107,597.89

4 Matters Arising
a) Patronage

The High Steward reported that he had informally spoken to the Countess of Leicester and she would be interested in the Patronage. It was also reported that Prince Charles was also interested in Great Yarmouth and would like to show some support to Great Yarmouth.  

RESOLVED:
That the Chairman formally write to the Countess of Leicester to ask her to become the patron of the Great Yarmouth Minster Preservation Trust. 

5 Other Matters Arising

a) Places and Faces 

Michael Boon stated that the Places and Faces magazine had now spread into other parts of Norfolk and that as a result of this Great Yarmouth received less coverage.

b) Peregrine Falcon's

It was reported that the box would be installed at the end of February and that an estimate for £3,800 had been received to install three camera's and that the Preservation Trust was happy to give £2,000 towards this so it was agreed that either a cheaper quote should be sought for the three cameras or that consideration be given to only installing two cameras. The High Steward pointed out that the camera on the box and the nest are the two important cameras as these are the ones that people access via the website. A decision on this would be made once the further quotes were received.

7 Re-ordering UPDATE

The Chairman asked for an update on the progress of this issue and Rev'd Chris Terry stated that it had been agreed that the sub committe would be re-convened in the new year due to the busy christmas period at the church.  The High Steward suggested amending the projected time scale for this project.

The Chairman stated that the Trust was getting as much publicity as it could in the Great Yarmouth Mercury.

a) Quiz/treasure Hunt (David McDermott) - St Paul's Church Hal Winter 2013 - Deferred to next meeting


b) An Evening with Keith Skues at the Masonic Rooms Friday 13th September (Ian Miller) : Tickets : price POSTPONED to spring 2014 - Deferred to next meeting.

c) Rev'd Peter Glanville's talk from Microphone to Ministry (Colin Smith) - to be approached to attend and pay £5 entry fee.

d) WW1 centenary 2014 with GY arch Soc - It was reported that this event was going ahead with the Archaeological Society and a joint bid with Time and Tide had been submitted.  

e) Arts Festival June 2014 (Hugh Sturzaker) - All bids for funding submitted to date had been rejected. Looking for four quality artists to display their work in the Minster.  They would be looking to have a parade to St Georges where there would be music and dancing on the Plaza and art work displayed on the railings. There would be a Shard for Great Yarmouth made of bamboo with herrings made from crisp packets by Matthew Harrison.  There would also be musical, dancing and film events.      

f) Sixties night 10th May 2014 - Councillor Marsden would be arranging another event, he had received £600 sponsorship and had booked a band. 

g) Wedding Fair March 2014 (Colin Smith) and update on the Friends' - Colin Smith reported that he would charge £50 a pitch and that he would need some help to arrange this event and Sandra agreed to help.

It was reported that 6 people were interested in forming a Friends of the Minster committee and would be meeting before the end of January 2014, it was hoped that the friends group could help to keep the church open till 4pm in the summer.  


h) Dixiemix Jazz booked 12th July 2014 - Ticket price £10

i) Afternoon Tea - Hannah Long had asked to hold this again this year.

j) A lady called Dawn would like to hold an afternoon tea event singing songs from the Shows.

10 Other Fundraising Ideas

It was reported that a company called Splurge produces a booklet that advertisements are sold in. If charities sell the booklets they are given 25% of the profits.  It was agreed that further information on this would be sought and reported on at the next meeting.
