1 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

 

To receive any apologies for absence.

Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Bensly, Borg, Thompson, Waters-Bunn and Williamson.

 

 

2 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

 

You have a Disclosable Pecuniary Interest in a matter to be discussed if it relates to something on your Register of Interests form. You must declare the interest and leave the room while the matter is dealt with.

You have a Personal Interest in a matter to be discussed if it affects
•    your well being or financial position
•    that of your family or close friends
•    that of a club or society in which you have a management role
•    that of another public body of which you are a member to a greater extent than others in your ward.
You must declare a personal interest but can speak and vote on the matter.

3 MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

To consider any announcements from His Worship the Mayor.

His Worship the Mayor advised Council that Darren Barker, Principal Conservation Officer would be providing Council with a presentation of his recent visit to Taiwan.

 

The Principal Conservation Officer provided Council with a brief presentation of his visit and advised that he had been visiting Taiwan since 2015 to provide lectures and workshops relating to conservation, This year he had visited Kinmen Island a territory 2km from China but owned by Taiwan, Kinmen is known as the golden gate and is a gateway to and from China. The island has historic trade links with Yarmouth.

 

Members were advised that the government of the island had sent a gift of a plate for the Mayor as a token of friendship between Kinmen and Great Yarmouth and a certificate thanking Great Yarmouth for advice given on the restoring of their historic buildings.

 

His Worship the Mayor passed on Council's thanks for the work that the Principal Conservation Officer had completed and extended the support from the Council for the ongoing project.

Council received and considered the Community Protection Manager's report which asked Members to agree the extension of the Public Spaces Protection Order No 1 Alcohol related Anti Social Behavior for a further 3 year period.

 

In discussing the report the following questions were raised :-

 

  • Councillor Myers asked with regard to the areas that were included within the consultation responses, and he was advised that the consultation had been made available throughout the Borough and that all Parish Councils had been contacted for comments.

 

  • His Worship asked with regard to the enforcement of the order and he was advised that in the main this would be the responsibility of the local police.

Seconder : Councillor Wainwright 

 

That Council agree to the extension of the Public Spaces Protection Order No 1 Alcohol related Anti Social Behavior for a further 3 year period.
